Mary Kay Afternoon

My friend S is a Mary Kay lady, and she came over this afternoon with her bag of cosmetic-tricks. Both A and F came over as well, and the four of us sat around my dining room table for a few hours, oohing and aahing over the new colors and new products. I had invited three other friends as well, but they either forgot about the date, or they didn't need anything.

This was our friend F's first trip up this way since she got out of the hospital, so it was good to finally see her on our front porch again. When F signed the guest book this afternoon, she wrote "I'm baaaaaack!" Nice also to see that she hasn't lost an iota of her great sense of humor. F is using one of those aluminum walkers now, till she gets to really feeling better. It has wheels on the front of it, so I told her to stop calling it a walker and start calling it her new set of wheels.

We also decided that her new set of wheels should be decorated, so I'm trying to figure out how to attach some streamers to it--- you know those streamers that you always used to see on little girls' bicycles back in the 1950s and 1960s? I would love to find some bright purple ones. To paraphrase that famous quote: "When I am an old woman, my new set of wheels shall sport purple streamers."

Mary Kay has a great little cosmetic holder now. It looks like a miniature lap-top. Open it up and there's a good-sized mirror in there, plus all these little compartments which hold the powders, blush, eye shadows, mascara, brushes, powder puff. It will be great for traveling, too-- everything is right in the same place, all packed and ready to go.

Still cold outside. It should be warming up nicely tomorrow, if we can believe the weatherman. It's supposed to be up in the high 70s or low 80s. Do they really know that for sure? With all the technologically-advanced equipment they have these days, wouldn't you think the weather-people would never make errors in their forecasts?
