Another Cold Snap
Be careful what you wish for..........
A few days ago, we had very warm and muggy weather. I didn't complain about the near-80 temperatures, but I sure did complain about the drippy humidity. Seems that we don't get much humidity in the summer (we just get the heat).... but it sure gets humid in the 'winter' here.
Well, the humidity was replaced with a cold snap. I think the temperature dropped from 80 to 50. And the cloudy weather stayed around, so that makes it feel even colder. We need the sun, if it ever finds its way back to us.
I spent part of this afternoon writing out the invitations for the Valentine's Charades Party. I'll get those out in the mail next week, and start decorating for Valentine's Day. That's always a fun party. We always have a potluck dinner before we play Charades. And because it's a Valentine's party, almost everyone dresses in red. When we first started having the Valentine's party, I asked our friends to wear red or pink for Valentine's Day. Just about everyone did for that first party, and they've been doing it ever since.
At that very first Valentine's party, one friend of ours came in red flannel pajamas, red socks, red suede shoes, and a vintage 1940s red velvet hat. Of course, she wore a red rhinestone necklace and earrings set to complete the ensemble. She said that was as red as she could get. That friend is an antiques dealer, and the red velvet hat came from one of her shop's displays. She didn't take the price tag off of it because she was going to put it back in the shop the next day, so that made it funnier. Every time she got up to act out her Charade, we all just sat there and laughed.
The cats had cabin fever today, and yesterday as well. They don't want to stay out on the screen-porch for too long, since the temperature isn't up to their usual standards. (Not up to mine either.) AngelBoy cries by the back door to go outside, and I let him out..... ten minutes later, he's crying to get back in. ("What's wrong with you, woman... it's cold out there!")
Every once in a while, Rusty is going up to either AngelBoy or ShadowBaby and using his teeth to clamp onto one or the other's shoulder. That prompts a pitiful meow out of the one being bitten, of course. The cats all need a sunny day to just sit out on the deck and relax. Which sounds pretty good to me as well. Another reason to keep hoping for warmer, sunnier weather.
