Swan Song.

Now it's time to say goodbye......

My computer is still down for the count... sitting there like a paperweight...... but I've been too busy to use it anyway.

I've been packing up everything in our house for five weeks now...... and we have moved away from the waterfront area. No more worry about hurricanes...... no more evacuating when the summer storms come through the Gulf. We will miss all of our neighbors and friends on the "old" street, but we will meet neighbors on the "new" street. Before we left our neighborhood, in fact the day before I started packing up the house, we had one last big party-- "The Last Potluck Supper" -- we invited all of our neighbors and everyone in the Charades group.

Everyone was shocked beyond belief when we told them that we were moving. No one knew that we were even looking at other houses in different parts of the state. We didn't say a word because we didn't know how long it would take us to find just what we wanted... but as soon as we saw this house, I knew it was the one.... even before we got out of the car for our first look-see. All of our friends said the same thing when we told them we were moving: "Well, who's going to give the parties now after you move?" -- I told them we'd still have parties at the new house, but they would have to drive a bit to get there.... and some of the parties would be all-day Open House parties, because a party at night for our Clear Lake friends wouldn't be convenient unless they either stayed the night or wanted that long drive after a late night.

We have said goodbye to Clear Lake and hello to the Hill Country of this beautiful state. Since our first visits to the Hill Country, I have always loved it up here....... amazing that we live here now, and I am still pinching myself. We were sad to leave our old house, sadder still to leave such good neighbors and friends..... but it was time to go. Before the next hurricane season, before even more high-rise condo-complexes could be built. Clear Lake was becoming more and more like downtown Houston.... and if we had wanted to live in the downtown area, that's where we would have moved in the first place.

I am still unpacking, and we've been here for two weeks now. All those boxes-- over 200 of them. So many books, porcelain pieces, kitchen and dining room stuff, plus all the party things..... everything got packed into boxes and put on a truck for a trip away from Clear Lake.

Hopefully, this will be our last move. It sure was the hardest...... a house filled with stuff.... and now all of that stuff is in this wonderful old house and it all looks better than ever.

I thought this would be a good time to wrap up "Sprinkles." Who knows when (and if) my laptop will work again...... and I don't want to be buying another one if that one can't be fixed.

"Sprinkles" has been fun, but it's done now. With everything, you have to know when to stop. And it's time to stop this one.

Enjoy the day....... enjoy life........ remember to smile at the elderly, hug your kids, and be kind to your pets. And, in the words of a great lady, always remember that "No matter what happens in this world, life does go on in a sensible way."
